WORLD BEE DAY

A Sweet Celebration at The Flower Belt

Just over the hedge from The Flower Belt, there’s a different kind of activity taking place. While our fields are getting ready to burst into colour, a quieter, but just as important, world is hard at work.

Today, on World Bee Day, we’re celebrating the tiny pollinators that play such a big role in keeping our wildflowers blooming and our local ecosystem thriving.

Our on-site hives are home to a buzzing community of honeybees, lovingly cared for by our beekeeper, Nigel. With over 20 years of experience and a real passion for pollinators, Nigel not only looks after the wellbeing of the bees, but also produces the delicious, small-batch honey we’re proud to offer right here at The Flower Belt.

Each jar of honey is a true reflection of this place, from the tulips,  wildflowers and sunflowers in our field to the thoughtful stewardship that supports every step of the process.

But bees are more than just honey-makers. They’re vital pollinators, helping plants reproduce and supporting biodiversity. Without them, our colourful meadow and much of the food we rely on, wouldn’t exist in the same way. In fact, more than 75% of flowering plants and around 35% of global food crops depend on pollinators like bees.

By maintaining healthy hives, we’re doing our part to support these essential creatures and we’re so grateful to our visitors and community for supporting that mission too.

So whether you're stopping by for a walk among the flowers, picking up a jar of local honey, or simply spreading awareness online, we invite you to join us in celebrating bees today.

Here’s to the bees (and to Nigel!) for keeping our fields full of life and our shelves full of honey.
